Public Guided Tour (in German)
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, follows nine days after Rosh Hashanah and, together with it, forms the High Holy Days of Judaism. In 2026, Rosh Hashanah will be celebrated on 12 and 13 September, whilst Yom Kippur falls on 21 September.
The tour also focuses on the Torah, the Holy Scripture of Judaism. From an early age, children all over the world learn the Hebrew script so that they can read the Torah. Visitors will learn more about the significance of the Holy Scripture for Jewish people today and how it is interpreted. A musical world map brings to life the Jewish languages that have developed within the Diaspora.
In the installation *Why Follow the Law*, Jewish people discuss their personal approach to religious commandments. Objects and everyday items illustrate Jewish ways of life, such as the Jewish dietary laws (kashrut) or the commandment of charity (tzedakah). A flamenco dress, a sewing cushion and a crown offer insights into the diversity within Judaism.
