with Dieter Hacker, from his novel manuscript

This as yet unpublished novel traces, in a blend of biography and fiction, the life journey of Anton, a sort of prototypical artist, from his first steps in the world of art through the ups and downs of an artist’s life – including successes and failures, poverty and prosperity – right up to his end, when he once again vanishes into the ether of oblivion.

The story exemplifies the life of a so-called ‘school dropout’ who, through the medium of art and his exceptional artistic talent, goes on to attain education and knowledge.

Dieter Hacker (born 1942 in Augsburg) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and, after moving to Berlin, gained international recognition in the context of the ‘Young Wild Ones’ painting movement. From 1990 to 2007, he taught as a professor of painting at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). It was there that he also met his two former students, Ewa Finn and Katharina Poos, for whom – out of friendship and respect for their artistic achievements – he reads from his manuscript in the exhibition ‘Windstille Nacht’.
