SUPPORT: RIP Swirl + Naemi

With an EP and two albums, Provoker have established themselves as important representatives of the LA underground scene. Their unusual mix of dystopian post-punk and pop melodies has earned them a loyal fan base and a sold-out North American tour.

Behind Provoker's dark melodies lies a spirit that strives for clarity, shining through the smoke and reflections of these painful sounds. When the band first appeared, their story paralleled their uniquely intense no-wave sound.

The band's primary songwriters, lyricist Christian Crow Petty and instrumentalist Jonathon Lopez, met at a performance of the 2016 black comedy The Greasy Strangler, alongside Christian's older brother.

Their latest album, Demon Compass, released on Friday the 13th, showcases the band's unique ambitions. The album presents a mature mythology, complete with a choose-your-own-adventure game, as well as some of the best AAA pop to date. In addition, they produced four cinema-quality visuals, held a release party in the Hollywood Hills and brought LA's Enigma Eyedress on board for a feature on the album highlight "Freezing Alive".

SUPPORT

RIP Swirl (Public Possession, YEAR0001) showcases his talent for creating soundscapes that blend experimental dance, trip-hop and shoegaze textures by translating his collage art skills into music on his debut album "Blurry." Luka, who stepped away from the club scene for this album, explores his talents as a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. The record, enhanced by Luka's penchant for analogue recordings, blurs into a fluid soundtrack that is imbued with a deep sense of nostalgia while simultaneously defying clear categorization.

Naemi, a Berlin-based artist, is best known for her work under the name exael (3XL, West Mineral Ltd, Soda Gong, Anómia, Motion Ward). While exael explores more ambiguous and impersonal realms, Naemi's works integrate more familiar forms of songwriting and traditional instrumentation. The sounds produced merge into a kaleidoscopic mix of influences and sonic aesthetics, combining elements of dream pop, IdM, musique concrete, ambient, trip-hop and perhaps even a touch of troubadour-like shenanigans.
