The play “Pride93” brings the first pride parade in Turkey and the emergence of the LGBTIQ+ movement to the stage along with the social events of the era and the understanding of entertainment at the time.

The piece uses true stories and testimonies from the oral history project “Being Queer in the 90s” by the organization “Siyah Pembe Üçgen” to break the silence of the 90s and salute the LGBTIQ+ movement with respect. With six different stories told by six different characters, “Pride93” is a reminder of how the unique, when brought together, becomes a powerful force.

After all the battles fought, all of the queens now know that no one, who may not know each other personally but is familiar with each other, will ever walk alone again.
