A magic show that is critical of power. In this show, Christo Schleiff makes things appear, robs a person from the audience of their strength and himself survives being shot by a pistol - like his one-time role model Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin, who traveled to North Africa allegedly to prevent an uprising in occupied Algeria.
Today, Christo reveals the trick of how ethnologists use this made-up story to provide a pseudoscientific justification for racism. It also poses the question: how much structural power is hidden in every magic show?
