A novel is offered that takes us on an expedition into the fascinating Berlin cabaret of the post-reunification period. Here the devil wants to make another old-school pact and finds a suitable candidate in the chanson poet La Groete - a downright wimp.

The narrative is flanked by everything that a cabaret bible can offer as a front report from the big and small stages of the country - accompanied by music by Pigor & Eichhorn.

Thomas Pigor, born in Alzey in 1956, travels the country as a cabaret artist, songwriter, author and composer. Since 1995 he has been singing with Pigor & Eichhorn. For years he composed the »Chanson of the Month« for the SWR on contemporary history. The book for this project was published in cooperation with the graphic designer and illustrator Burkhard Neie.

Anna Mateur, born in Dresden in 1977, studied music but would have preferred to apply for graphics or acting. She writes stage programs, song lyrics and radio columns, draws her stories live on foils, skin, tables and walls. Since 2003 she has been touring with her formation »Anna Mateur and the Beuys« in German-speaking countries. She is passionate about systems between order and chaos.

Burkhard Neie, born in Berlin in 1965, studied communication design and founded the creative agency »xix« there in 1990. His illustrations appear in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, among others. He illustrated numerous books for the Insel Library, most recently »The Danced Shoes and Other Fairy Tales«. Burkhard Neie lives and works in Berlin.
