An opera about beauty, love and art

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the summer opera, the music school Paul Hindemith Neukölln meets the challenges faced by the citizens of this district with creative, reactive and inclusive power.

The program includes the opera Pigmalione by Peter von Winter, a contemporary of Mozart and a student of Salieri. An episode from Ovid's Metamorphoses serves as the basic idea in this opera: the story of an artist striving for love and creative fulfillment.

The brilliant artist Pigmalione, more talented in dealing with art than in dealing with women, creates a perfect statue as the ideal image of his dream woman. He falls immortally in love with this statue and threatens to go insane about this naturally unresponsive love. How the redemption of Pigmalione takes place by the goddess Venus is a surprise!

In a lush line-up with young soloists and a soloist, choir and large orchestra of professional musicians: inside, student: inside and pupils: inside the music school are talented young musicians: inside and professionals together on stage.

The artistic director is Dr. Timo Jouko Herrmann, a specialist in Viennese classical music and one of the world's most famous Salieri researchers. The film is directed by Andre Meyer, who works as a director and dramaturge in Münster, Bremen and Heidelberg.

Premiere 18. August 2023
