Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to perform Dvořák's Stabat Mater with a choir or orchestra - technically, this is also possible for qualified non-professional music lovers - will never again forget the beguilingly beautiful cantilenas that carry the work upwards, will forever revel in the equally passionate and gentle nuances of pain that the Czech composer was able to set to music.
His personal experience of suffering enabled him to reach ultimate dimensions and to find a music that directly touches across all changes of epochs, styles and artistic views.
