‘‘Normal’ is just a setting on the washing machine.’ This humorous saying, coined by the actress Whoopi Goldberg, is the starting point for an artistic exploration of the dynamics and complexity of the concept of “normality”.

What does it mean to be normal? Which social, cultural and personal perspectives influence our understanding of ‘normal’?

The participating artists reflect on this topic with works in the fields of comic, collage, illustration, installation, printmaking, painting, mural, performance, screen printing, sculpture and drawing.
