NoonSong - Song & Prayer

From the
great wealth of Anglican choral music, some composers stand out who have become
our favourite composers in NoonSong - William Byrd is certainly one of them.
But Richard Dering, of whom little is known, also wrote outstanding, lively
choral music.

In the 19th century, the resurgence of church music was mainly due to S.S. Wesley, who drew on the baroque tradition of Henry Purcell in his large-scale Magnificat for choir and organ.

  • Preces: Philip Radcliffe (1905-1986): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 114 William Byrd (ca. 1540-1623): In exitu Israel
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 66a Richard Dering (ca. 1580-1630): Jubilate Deo
  • Canticum: Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-1876): Magnificat in E
  • Choral: Jacob Gippenbusch (1612-1664): Die ganze Welt, Herr Jesu Christ

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
