NoonSong - Song & Prayer

On the third Advent, the focus is on Zechariah's song of praise. The old priest praises God and extols the promise that the Saviour will come. This moving text, which is firmly located in the morning prayer of the church (Lauds), is both read in the Gospel according to Luke and recited again as a Gregorian chant.

Compositions:

  • Preces: Duncan Faulkner (*1951): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 102: Orlando di Lasso (ca. 1532-1594): Domine exaudi orationem meam
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 85: Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706): Tröste uns Gott, unser Heiland
  • Canticum: anonym (gregorianisch): Canticum Zachariae
  • Choral: Christoph Graupner (1683-1760): Mit Ernst, o Menschenkinder

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music.
