Nilza Costa is a Brazilian singer and composer from Salvador [Bahia], a city on the Atlantic coast strongly influenced by Afro traditions.

She inherited her passion for music from her grandmother of Afro-indigenous origin, who accompanied her to Candomblé religious events and introduced her to Yoruba culture. In Salvador de Bahia, she began performing as a soloist in the Church of San Lazzaro and in the Olodum scenic choir.

The music of Nilza Costa 4tet highlights the musical diversity of Brazil, drawing on the sacred tradition of Candomblé and presenting it in a contemporary language enriched by the contamination of sounds from Brazil, Africa and Europe, with improvisation at its core.
Her live concerts are an explosion of sounds and feelings.

Nilza Costa has released three albums and has completed several tours in Europe with her talented musicians from the Italian jazz/world scene.
