The piece:
The Mirror premièred at the Chameleon in September 2022 and is, to date, one of the most successful plays in our theatre’s history. After touring venues such as the Sydney Opera House, The Mirror can now be seen on our stage in a further development.
In this ground-breaking circus piece, the artists explore the connection between self-love and self-expression with impressive physicality and outstanding acrobatics. The high acrobatic and dance level of the piece is juxtaposed with an innovative light and video design with an LED wall combining video art and live recordings from several hand-held cameras.
Accompanied by virtuoso electro compositions and pop mash-ups, the acrobats repeatedly push their physical limits and simultaneously question the act of performance itself. Where does art become entertainment and entertainment become art? What does authenticity mean in the age of omnipresent screens and permanent self-marketing?
