On the occasion of the 165th birthday of Heinrich Zille (January 10, 1858 – August 9, 1929), Barbara Mewis takes a walk through the Victoriakiez. The so-called “Pinselheinrich” lived in Victoriastadt (today Victoriakiez/Kaskelkiez) from 1872 to 1891. There he processed his impressions of the then typical Berlin workers' settlement in numerous "Milljöh" studies and drawings.
The walk leads from the Lichtenberg Museum through the Victoriakiez and provides insights into different areas of Zille's life: biographical stages, family history, the great love for his wife Hulda as well as his work as a draftsman, graphic artist, painter and illustrator.
