Jörg Widmann and Felix Mendelssohn
For the composer, clarinettist and conductor Jörg Widmann, Felix Mendelssohn is one of the greats of music. In doing so, he sees parallels to his own work, through a common “joy for tempo, for instrumental colors, for rapid mood changes in a confined space”. You can now convince yourself of this artistic relationship.
Jörg Widmann conducts Mendelssohn's festive "Reformation Symphony" and presents three of his own works: his overture Con brio, which plays with motifs from Beethoven, his virtuoso fantasy for clarinet and the Second Violin Concerto with his sister Carolin Widmann as the soloist.
