In preparation for the 300th anniversary of Moses Mendelssohn's birth in 2029

With the political scientist Saba Nur Chema & the historian and educator Meron Mendel, the columnists of “Muslim-Jewish Evening Meal” (FAZ).



The “Morning Lessons” are a series of events organized by the Mendelssohn Society with the Moses Mendelssohn Society Dessau, the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Berlin and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and are sponsored by the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt.


The next Mendelssohn Lecture will take place for the first time in Dessau in fall 2025.

The “Morgenstunden. Mendelssohn Lessons” were initiated in preparation for the 300th anniversary of Moses Mendelssohn's birth in 2029.


From 2018 to 2024, they took place in Berlin and Hamburg. Contributors to date have included Joachim Gauck, Harald Welzer, Bénédicte Savoy, Hans Joas, David Grossmann, Micha Brumlik, Klaus Mertes SJ, Seyla Benhabib, Jan Philipp Reemtsma and Micha Ullman.
