The exhibition “Mixed Feelings” offers an insight into the world of the artist Ivan Gette. His abstract and often chaotic style reflects his feelings and life stories. It illustrates his journey from graffiti artist to abstract painter and illuminates unknown facets of his life.
The many layers of his works reveal stylistically different aspects of significant events in Ivan's life. Calmness, dynamism, chaos and often broken composition describe these moments, the associated colors and the complete freedom in the creative process, which he defines as “abstract nihilism”.
Art is like a heartbeat: it makes hearts beat faster, awakens passions, holds up a mirror, inspires, repels, scares, stimulates thought and questions human actions and existence on this earth.
Art responds to the moments that happen in or around people. Moments that influence them, that affect them, that they process and share. These moments reveal feelings that are sometimes simple and trivial, but sometimes so complex that they make people question their surroundings and the world.
