The devil personally visits Moscow and is looking for a prom queen for his full moon festival. A chance for Margarita to free her lover and writer from psychiatry - and one of the greatest love stories of the 20th century.
The Russian poet Mikhail Bulgakov worked on his novel for 12 years, from 1928 to his death in 1940, knowing full well that the censorship would never allow it to be published. It was only in 1966 that the story was published with great success in the Soviet Union and in 1968 also in German in the wonderful translation by Thomas Reschke.
