Poetry/ Film/ Art/ Music
"Ominira" is the title of Maroula Blades' multimedia project, the Nigerian Yoruba word for freedom. The artistic-musical collaboration with Jörg Heinrich made a significant contribution to bringing Maroula Blades' bilingual project "Ominira" (English/German) to life. Together they composed soundscapes for the poetry.
The project includes prose, short stories, poetry, images and soundscapes and was supported by the Jan Michalski Foundation.
"Maroula Blade's art is both concrete and open. It is contemporary in the best sense of the word - and has been for years. Anyone who listens to her and her art and gives it the necessary space can learn a lot about the power and aesthetics of critical, political and sensitive poetry."
Fabian Bechtle (Project Manager Forum Democratic Culture and Contemporary Art)
