Guided tour of chandeliers in the Neues Palais with palace employee Andrea Dürr, SPSG
In the 18th century, artificial light sources were a luxury of a special kind. In the guided tour, the participants are introduced to the precious chandeliers, wall and table chandeliers of the Neues Palais and learn interesting facts about the artists and craftsmen involved.
The background to the acquisition and handling of these precious objects over the centuries will be explained, as will the question of why light was such a precious commodity in earlier times.
