With Horst Peter Serwene
The association Gesellschaft Historisches Berlin e.V. (GHB) invites all interested parties to a tour of the city that focuses on the history and architecture of the Lustgarten.
The Lustgarten has a turbulent history: originally laid out as a herb garden by Elector Johann in 1573, it was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. The Great Elector had it redesigned in 1645 in the Dutch style. Later, Frederick William I converted it into a parade ground before Peter Joseph Lenné transformed it into a magnificent garden in 1825.
