"Artifacts and Models" by Lena Amuat and Zoë Meyer presents a collection of objects that embody the human pursuit of knowledge. The project, which took over twelve years to complete and includes hundreds of images, inventories models, artifacts, natural specimens, and teaching objects that the two women unearthed during their travels through the archives and collections of European universities and natural history museums.

Information about the objects has been banished from the titles of the images. There is no information about the objects. Instead, they are meant to communicate through the power of their visual identity alone.

Each object was brought into the mobile photo studio, where it was skillfully lit and photographed against colored paper backdrops (sometimes composed with other objects, but mostly standing alone).

The Swiss duo focuses on the analog and the "handmade" - from printing in the darkroom to carefully prepared colored backgrounds and hand-painted frames that they build themselves.
