What does the Penthesilea myth tell us about female warriors, death and love in the present? In her adaptation of the ancient material, Nino Haratischwili takes a new look at Russia's war against Ukraine. For her novel The Warrior (2022), Helene Bukowski researched gender roles and body images in the Bundeswehr.

She talks about Amazons in antiquity and the present, about Sheroes in war, which has represented a new reality in Europe since February 24, 2022 and has shown new dimensions of violence, especially against women, in the Middle East since October 7, 2023.

In Ukraine and Israel, women are a natural part of the military. A particular challenge for antimilitarism and feminism in this country? Do bodies need to prepare for future wars?
