Once located in the “shadow” of the Wall, this legendary district has developed a vibrant diversity that is both fascinating and challenging. Arabic hairdressers next to hipster cafés, Muslim prayer rooms next to Swabian snack bars and “pizza to go”.

Start-ups develop their business ideas for a global presence in Kreuzberg's typical backyards, while drugs are clearly being dealt at Kottbusser Tor, even in daylight.

This discovery tour not only looks at the obvious, but also reports on the political development of this dazzling district and deals with the social upheavals that range from the squatter scene to today's gentrification.

The walk leads from Kottbusser Tor through Dresdener Straße, along Waldemarstraße to Mariannenplatz and further across Rio-Reiser-Platz to Görlitzer Park.
