Contributions to the history of the Berlin Egyptian Collection II
In the second lecture on the early history of the Egyptian Museum and the papyrus collection, the period from 1820 to 1827 will be examined. During this time, the archaeologist Konrad Levezow was responsible for the antiquities collections and thus also for the Aegyptiaca.
The various acquisitions of Aegyptiaca are presented with their previous owners, and an insight is also given into Levezow's efforts to record the Aegyptiaca as such together for the first time, classify them and structure them for the collection.
Speaker: PD Dr. Jan Moje
The lecture will take place in the Brugsch-Pascha-Saal (Archaeological Center, Zwilling-Scholl-Str. 6, 10117 Berlin).
