The Diva of Wrong Notes - A Comedy by Peter Quilter ("Glorious") / German by Horst Johanning

Unbelievable! Sometimes it pays to hold on to your lifelong dream, and sometimes true enthusiasm can triumph over the limitations of talent. This is Peter Quilter's heartwarming comedy about Florence Foster Jenkins, the "diva of the wrong notes".

In New York in the early 1940s, Florence Foster Jenkins (1868-1944) was an absolute social event. She saw herself as a successful soprano who enchanted the world with her voice as clear as a bell. In truth, however, she missed every note of the opera arias she belted out to her audience at charity events and balls with somnambulist certainty.

High society roared with laughter at the wealthy heiress, but doubt and criticism did not quell the "Queen of Dissonance". world undeterred with their "singing". But how long can you close your eyes to the truth? Will Florence face the harsh reality of her biggest performance at Carnegie Hall?

Peter Quilter's play took London's West End by storm in 2005. A grandiose comedy and at the same time loving homage to a woman whose joie de vivre and enthusiasm are unparalleled, and a prime role for Antje Rietz, who most recently impressed the audience as Hildegard Knef in "Für mich soll's rote Rosen rainen" and as band leader Sweet Sue in "Sugar". enthusiastic.
