Despite Fridays for Future and countless climate demonstrations: CO2 emissions have increased worldwide. And the war in Ukraine has brought the renewed use of fossil fuel generators, which had actually already been cancelled, back into the discussion.

But there is also hope.

Because we are probably now achieving the energy turnaround faster than planned. And there are many more ways to make the earth a better place to live in the future.

In the lecture series NOW! Actions and Visions that Give Hope, Greenpeace expert Dr. Thomas Henningsen uses frightening examples to show what will happen to our world if we continue as we are. But he also knows examples that give courage - such as the Egyptian SEKEM initiative.

SEKEM Managing Director Helmy Abouleish presents the innovative Egyptian approach. He knows what he is talking about:
Under challenging circumstances - in the middle of the desert - SEKEM has been practicing sustainable agriculture for more than 40 years, which also promotes human development and is now operating successfully.

In this lecture series, Greenpeace and SEKEM would like to show how much potential a joint action can have. Greenpeace has decades of experience in successfully fighting crimes against nature and habitats. SEKEM works in Egypt every day on solutions that make sustainable and climate-positive development possible.
