The HOMMAGE TO ELISABETH LEONSKAJA series presents over ten days the life and work of the “grande dame” of the piano, who was born in Tbilisi, trained at the Moscow Conservatory and has lived in Vienna since the 1970s.

As part of the homage, which also includes a public master class, the pianist will play, among other things, two piano concertos by Brahms, the last three piano sonatas by Beethoven, chamber music and works of the Second Viennese School.

Elisabeth Leonskaja always trusts in the inner power of the sounds: "Don't search for yourself in the music, but music within yourself," she puts it in words. This speaks of reverence for the work and the legacy of the Russian piano school, whose great tradition is alive in their playing. "Sense of style" as well as "inner freedom" within it belong to their "sacred rules".
