Guest performance as part of Purple – International Dance Festival for Young Audiences
A powerful dance piece that explores boundaries and a journey into other dimensions of physicality and movement. It asks the questions: What is a perfect life, a perfect body, a perfect origin? What stops people from reaching their full potential?
Joseph walks with crutches. When he dances, he literally seems to fly. Maartje is rather small and delicate, but has the strength to climb the tallest trees and Future has little money but a voice that makes the world ring around him. Because everyone, like a king or queen, wears their own crown in life.
The team deals with its own African, Indonesian, Iraqi and European origins and the associated colonial history. The piece aims to reduce fears and prejudices and thereby enable different images, perceptions and attitudes towards people with different bodies and origins.
A co-production by Jungle Vienna & UNUSUAL BEINGS & Dance Revolution East Africa
