with Otis Mensah and the artist
This two-day workshop, exploring the practices of sampling and riffing, explores how local environments and archives can be a source for improvisation and collaborative sound art.
Participants will be introduced to various stories of collage, sampling, riffing and improvisation and will then work through a series of activities to produce their own sound pieces.
Participants should begin to engage with questions of readability, comprehension and palimpsest when creating sounds. Participants should take strategies with them to further explore their surroundings and create complex sound works.
