MOZART, MARTINŮ, KURTÁG
Two outstanding soloists present musical dialogues for violin and viola spanning four centuries: Isabelle Faust and Antoine Tamestit perform French Baroque concertos by viol player and composer Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s pair of string duos, excerpts from György Kurtág’s Jelek, játékok és üzenetek (“Signs, Games, and Messages”), and Bohuslav Martinů’s Three Madrigals of 1947, in which the two instruments’ virtuosic interplay creates a sonic tapestry almost resembling a string quartet.
