The Berlin Wall from a different Perspective
There is currently a new exhibition by photographer Arwed Messmer and author Annett Gröschner entitled INVENTARISIERUNG DER MACHT. THE BERLIN WALL FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE.
Annett Gröschner and Arwed Messmer devote themselves to the early Berlin Wall in a long-term photographic and literary project that works with surviving archive material from the GDR border troops and shows the Wall from an eastern perspective.
The centrepiece of the project, whose accompanying publication has won several awards, is formed by around 1000 horizontal sequences and individual images from the photo collection of the border troops of the former GDR, which visualise the entire course of the Wall around West Berlin from the perspective of the builders. The original version was expanded and modified for the exhibition in the Wall Memorial.
