The documentary by Torsten Körner explores the lives of 15 women who grew up in the GDR and, despite state control and traditional gender roles, fought for their personal freedom and women’s rights.

Through their biographies, it becomes clear how they resisted and preserved their identities. Using archival material and interviews, combined with scenes from subversive DEFA films, the documentary creates a multifaceted picture of the lives and challenges faced by women in the GDR.
