In a recital format, three singers perform the songs of the “Seconda Donna” and “Secondo Uomo", the unheroic if not always villainous plot functionaries in Handel's ORLANDO FURIOSO trilogy of the 1730s, in an abridged form.
At the same time, projected onto a large screen in the background, ethnographic documentary material from people - similar to the singers - who talk about their fears, their worries. Gradually, the singers become characters without roleplay, while we identify the roots of a fear at the heart of Europe since the Enlightenment, Nietzsche‘s "unfinished problem of civilized."
I furiosi is a metatext recital that evolves into an experience that is a kind of “opera by stealth.”
