A dialogue between hip-hop and classical music
The Berlin Town Hall (Rotes Rathaus) will be the backdrop for an extraordinary event when Berlin's first HipHop Ball takes place there on 15 November 2025. For the first time, the impressive fusion of urban culture and classic elegance is now also creating a space in Berlin where people who often never meet in everyday life can come together.
Originally launched in Vienna, this ball format has attracted around 1,500 guests every year.
The idea for this special ball came from Viennese Sajeh Tavassoli, who has Iranian roots. She developed the concept of combining the traditional Viennese ball culture with the dynamism of the hip-hop scene back in 2015.
Berlin's governing mayor, Kai Wegner, will be the patron of the HipHop Ball Berlin.
The ball is also supported by renowned partners, including the Flying Steps, the DDR Museum and LiveTeacherUs, the official charity partner of the event.A special highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Chain of Glory, an award given exclusively to women who have made a lasting contribution to the German hip-hop scene with exceptional commitment and creative energy.
This special edition honours female artists from all areas of hip-hop culture, from music and dance to graffiti, spoken word and poetry.
In addition to the award ceremony, guests can look forward to a varied programme:
Live performances and DJ sets by over 50 artists will provide musical highlights.
A specially curated graffiti exhibition on Berlin's history invites visitors to participate and discover interactive elements.
Another highlight is the staging of an urban waltz dance choreographed by the Flying Steps in collaboration with musicians from the Deutsche Sinfonietta Berlin.
