Staged Reading & Talk

Katerina Poladjan’s novel Hier sind Löwen (Here Are Lions) is a poetic investigation of the art of book restoration. At its centre is an old Bible, which was the only memento the siblings Anahid and Hrant had after they fled deportation.

One hundred years later the book is handed over to a restorer in Yerevan named Helen, who then sets out in search of the history of the book and the siblings. Its traces lead her to the Black Sea coast, to Mount Ararat and finally to her own family history. The novel, which was nominated for the German Book Prize in 2019, will be brought to the stage by Milena Abovyan and feature Sesede Terziyan.
