The NDR Bigband under the direction of Jörg Achim Keller with the »special guests«: actress Stefanie Stappenbeck, her Tatort colleague Dietmar Bär and soul star Stefan Gwildis.
Even the word entertainment is ambiguous - how appropriate for what Heinz Erhardt did and made up. Hardly any entertainer before or after him mastered the subtleties of comic and often musical communication with the audience so perfectly in order to amuse and distract them.
Even today, at least two generations after his death, the sketches, films, songs and witty poems of the »uncle of the nation«, as the FAZ calls him, amuse young and old alike. When Erhardt's granddaughter discovered numerous previously unknown songs and chants from his pen in his estate and had them recorded on the occasion of his 100th birthday with the help of some illustrious fans and the NDR Bigband, everyone was overjoyed.
A good decade later followed the first and so far only concert with these mischievous chansons, of course at the NDR, the Hamburg radio station where Heinz Erhardt began his career in the post-war years. More than just accompanied by the NDR Big Band and with wonderful arrangements between swing, Latin and soul-jazz by their conductor Jörg Achim Keller, the wonderful program under the motto »Open your eyes and through« is finally coming to concert halls throughout Germany.
The fact that freshly blossomed evergreens such as ›Fräulein Mabel‹, ›Don't get excited‹ or ›Agamemnon‹ are interpreted this time by Hamburg soul star Stefan Gwildis, actress Stefanie Stappenbeck and their Tatort colleague Dietmar Bär speaks for itself – and promises best entertainment, clearly ambiguous.
