Harmonias

Involved are the musician and singer of classical Hindustani music Shruti Bode, the musician and singer of traditional Syrian music Sadim Alzafari, the dancer and singer Esther Cowens, who refers to the music of their cultural heritage of the Negro Spirituals and the traditional music of the Moluccas, the Composer and pianist Dunja Crnjanski, who works with traditional Balkan music for this project, and dancer and singer Alexandre Achour, who rediscovers the Sephardic music of his ancestors.

Harmonias creates a space in which the concept of polyphony in music expands from the simultaneity of melodic lines and voices to the simultaneity of bodies and cultures. As a choreographic, musical and performative space, Harmonias invites to plurality. Plurality of aesthetics, practices, sensibilities and perspectives so that musical polyphony becomes a means to explore the concept of author polyphony with the idea of creating a common without giving up singularities.

As the performance suggests shifts, turns and disruptions from one culture to another, from one aesthetic to another, from one notion of harmony to another, harmony is no longer just an element but becomes the fusion of realities of our desire to come together.
