Puppet Theater by and with Ilka Vierkant

Werner Vierkant was the Reich Railway Director in Krakow during the Second World War. In France, his granddaughter met a couple from Toulouse - Jean and Marie Vaislic, who survived Auschwitz and Ravensbrück.

Jean, then Janek Vaislic, had to lay tracks as an inmate in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp that Werner Vierkant might have planned. The encounter with Jean and Marie inspired the granddaughter to develop a puppet theater evening to combat forgetting.

Ilka Vierkant is an actress who toured Europe with FAMILIE FLÖZ for many years. For her, the granddaughter of a Nazi perpetrator, the encounter with the survivors of the Holocaust raised many questions and painful feelings, which she addressed in her play.

Following the performance, there will be an opportunity to talk to Ilka Vierkant and Dr. Stephanie Bohra (Topography of Terror Foundation).
