"Now is the time for gods to step out of familiar things"
A poetry & jazz project by Karl-Heinz Barthelmeus and the Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe Jazz Ensemble
Rainer Maria Rilke, God seeker right? It would be wrong to describe Rilke as a strictly religious poet. And yet the question of God occupied him all his life. This is how great, sometimes eloquent poems were created, including biblical themes in artistically free interpretation.
The Rainer Maria Rilke project is not a standing program, it thrives on continuous change, which arises from improvisation but also from the search for a suitable sound format. Jazz and poetry meet, enter into a dialogue, and so the music occasionally continues a poem in its own way.
The collaboration between the actor and Rilke interpreter Karl-Heinz Barthelmeus, the jazz pianist Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe and various musicians, who vary in the line-up, has been in existence for twelve years. Karl-Heinz Barthelmeus spokesman, Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe on grand piano, Robin Draganic on bass and Tilman Person on percussions
