The current special exhibition at the Schöneberg Museum tells the story of the Diek family. Starting with Mandenga Diek's journey from Cameroon to Germany in 1891, it follows the life stories of the family members and their environment up to reunified Germany.

The family history is marked by exoticization, racist attacks and persecution, but also by self-assertion, resistance and cohesion.
Artworks by Otobong Nkanga and Kapwani Kiwanga link the biographical stations with overarching themes such as the independence movements of African states and the exploitation of resources by Europe since colonial times.
The exhibition's supporting program includes city walks, the laying of stumbling blocks and a film evening.
