Original title: L'écume des jours

A return from the gloomy worldview of the turn of the millennium: "The Foam of Days" is a light, effervescent French tragicomedy about love and death. On the romantic honeymoon, water lilies grow in the lungs of the beloved wife.

While she is wasting away, the hero loses his entire fortune to doctors in an attempt to save her life. In the end, he is so poor that he cannot even pay for her funeral. The lyrical storytelling of Jean Cocteau appears on the horizon.

The film was based on the highly popular novel "The Foam of Days" by Boris Vian, published in 1947. The book was not a great success during the author's lifetime, but later became a bestseller for young generations in
France and Germany.

In a review of the film, Die Zeit wrote of a "surreal storm of love".
