Serenate & Ballate

"Life is a song, and in song you tell life". Under this motto, Etta Scollo takes her audience into the poetic-musical world dedicated to the historical figures of the Sicilian tradition, from anonymous authors to contemporary poets.

Whether serenades sung by lovers under balconies in the moonlight, evoking the beloved, or ballads recounting historical but also private events, they celebrate a feeling that unites humanity: the need to communicate through the voice, so that it reaches the soul, in the name of sharing.

Etta Scollo will perform together with cellist Eva Freitag and accordionist Susanne Stock. A special guest is Fabio Tricomi, a multi-instrumentalist, an expert in traditional Mediterranean repertoire, who plays alternately on cultivated and traditional Middle Eastern instruments. In a double confrontation between the past and the present, the "Serenades and Ballads" oscillate, on the one hand, in a musical tradition that is still alive and, on the other, between this tradition and a "continental" idea of modernity inherent in today's poetry.
