As part of Gallery Weekend 2025
In Voices & Witches, artist, choreographer and performer Eszter Salamon explores her connection with history, directly engaging with the work and life of the avant-garde artist Valeska Gert. Gert’s work fearlessly defied the dominant aesthetic and ideological norms of the 1920s and 1930s, strongly influenced by German romanticism and nationalism – including its standards for female beauty.
In this lecture performance, Salamon boldly challenges the boundaries of canonical art history, giving voice to a feminist genealogy.
