Faust? Now called Margarete Faust and written by Fatma Aydemir. After her novels Elbows and Dschinns were adapted for the theater several times, Fatma Aydemir has written her first play.
The focus is on Professor Dr. Margarete Faust, who, no longer young herself, is revered by her students as an icon of gender studies. But she has long been a thorn in the side of the right-wing government in Germany, and when it becomes public that Faust helped a student abroad to have an abortion, a shitstorm breaks out over her that means the end of her career.
Mephisto uses this moment to remind Faust of the sensual dimension of life and introduces Karim to her. Karim is homosexual, needs a residence permit and Faust as a doctoral supervisor.
A game with the gray areas of seduction begins, in which conflicts of interest and power relationships develop a dynamic of their own that is uncontrollable for everyone.
