Idyll and Abyss: Piano Works by Widmann, Schubert, Ligeti, Liszt
In Denis Kozhukhin’s solo recital, it is not only Jörg Widmann’s eponymous “Schubert Reminiscences” of 2009 that oscillate between the idyll and the abyss: the Russian pianist’s entire program, his first at the Pierre Boulez Saal in several years, mixes the heavenly with the demonic.
