Reading with Sabine Borgwart

Stella suffers from a mysterious oversensitivity that makes her empathize with the pain and injuries of strangers. As a result, she has become increasingly withdrawn and, in a now uneventful life, obtains emotions second-hand through the consumption of series and feature films. Because she suspects that people would simply think she is crazy, she conceals her real problem.

She wishes she could be disembodied and dissolve into nature, but she loses neither her perceptive view of things nor her sense of humor. In a clinic by the sea, she wants to come to rest, write down her life and say goodbye. But then she finds a turtle on the beach and befriends Mrs. Jordan, who is suffering from dementia. In the end, she uncovers a great secret that she has kept hidden from herself for a long time.

Sabine Borgwart, born in 1985, studied fashion design and cultural studies for several semesters and worked in various professions until she decided to write in her mid-thirties. She lives in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
