When you think of Cuba, you think of old street cruisers, ice-cold daiquiris, dashing salsa dancers and rousing live jazz with soul and panache. The Cuban Heartbeat Orchestra brings the hot-blooded and lively atmosphere of a Cuban jazz club directly to the Zigzag - no wonder that the Cuban Heartbeat Orchestra is now considered the Zigzag's own Latin band, because it celebrates traditional Cuban son and Latin jazz in modern arrangements.

Mayelis Guyat - A journey through time: Little Mayelis Guyat squats in front of the radio and sings along to all the songs. She dreams of being on stage herself, but her mother insists on a degree in English. In 1995, Mayelis realizes her dream by touring Cuba with a band alongside the most renowned salseros. Now a Berliner by choice, she follows in the footsteps of her idols Celia Cruz, Isaac Delgado, Gilberto Santa Rosa - and like them, she infects the audience with this mixture of joie de vivre and joy.
