A Series Funded by Deutsche Bank

The “In Conversation” series starts the year 2025 with one of the most renowned contemporary artists: Tino Sehgal. His work is directly linked to the Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, as it was here that he had the idea for his specific artistic practice of constructing “situations” and generating social interactions.

A conversation about the beginnings of an artist who studied choreography and economics, the political dimension of his works and the museum as a place of social change.

Sehgal’s works have been shown in extensive solo exhibitions, including at the Centro Botín, Santander (2023); Remai Modern, Saskatoon (2022); Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C. (2018); Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, (2018); Fondation Beyeler, Basel (2017); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2016); Albertinum, Dresden (2016); Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2015), and the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin (2015). In 2013, he was honoured with the Golden Lion at the 55th Venice Biennale.

Moderation: Mathilda Legemah, Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart

In the series In Conversation. A series funded by Deutsche Bank, an artist talks about their work on the first Saturday of every month at 3 pm.
