The French Church on the Gendarmenmarkt was built between 1701 and 1705 for the French religious refugees, the Huguenots. The builders, also known as Réfugiés, were the master builders Jean Cayart (1644-1702) and Abraham Quesnay (1660-1726).

Church services, concerts and other events take place in the French Friedrichstadtkirche.
